This picture was taken at the same festival in Boston on the same day. It is a picture of a painting on the side of a wall that is now decaying. I thought it was interesting how the paint was peeling but the colors remained very vibrant. I use the composition technics of point of view, line and texture. I was looking at this painting from below, creating a worms-eye-view perspective. There are many bold lines that act as pathways for your eyes to follow. As for technical aspects I used lighting, focus and depth of field. There is some harsh lighting that create very interesting shadows were the paint peels up. The focus fades from the bottom right corner to the top left hand corner, creating a small field of depth in a very close us image. Artistically this image is very abstract. One can probably tell that this is peeling paint but not what the painting looked like. I don't even remember what the painting was of. I also enjoy that a pice of art because another pice of art in a different type of art. So not only did it fulfill it purpose as a painting but it also became the subject of a photograph.

This image was taken in the windowsill of my living room back in September. It was taken as part of my focus assignment. Pattern, shape and balance are all compositions techniques that I used in this picture. The repeating shape of a bottle creates a pattern. This mix of the same shape in different heights and different colors create a balance in the image. This combines with the technical aspects of lighting, focus and contrast. The lighting is just strong enough to illuminate the image but not too strong as too over expose the image. The focus is very strongly on the pepsi bottle, this create contrast and strengthens the image. This image is of some old bottles that my brother dug up in my backyard. This are old bottles yet they tie into our lives by having a table on them that we can all recognize. For me personally it gives me a tie to the people who lived in my house before and makes me want to know more about their lives.

This image is from my textured by nature assignment. It uses lines, point of view and texture. There are lines all over the hand which tell a story along with the texture in the calluses. The lighting in this image is very strong and it works nicely to help the focus to be sharp. There is clear contrast betweens the later parts of the hand and the lines in which dirt can fall into, This is the hand of my uncle, whom which I am very close to. Believe it or not this picture was taken on his day off. It shows how hard he works for me and my family everyday, and he rarely complains about it. This is shown clearly in the image by the deep lines completely filled in with dirt that the shower of the day before could not wash out. And by the calluses that rise out of the base of his fingers.

This picture was taken at the Topsfield fair during the last weekend it was open. I used positive and negative space, point of view and leading lines as composition technics. The positive space is the confession booth and the negative space is the black night sky. I stood further away to get an eye-level point-of-view. There are also lines coming out of the left side that lead you're eyes to the "cold drinks" sign. To make this picture technically stronger I used a slow shutter speed, to let in lots of light, contrast in the complimentary color scheme and a higher ISO number to let in more light quicker so the image is not blurry. I thing this image has a bit of a nostalgic feeling to it because we can call remember going to the fair when were little, or even still going. It is a place that it considered fun and it feels a bit comforting. This image has all of this but with a bit more of an edgy vibe to it. Created by the dark sky and the glowing lights.

This image differs from my others by being very close up with an attention to detail. It uses shape, distance and pattern. The shape of the seeds repeats, although the color varies. This creates a pattern. I also stood very close to the image to get a very detailed image. This photo is technically strong because I used depth of field, I made a very shallow one at that. It appears as if this small plant is in its own little world. I also used focus, by focusing on a small part of the plant so all the little seeds are very clear and detailed. Along with field of depth and focus I used contrast, contrast betweens the black and white and between what'a in focus and out of focus. All of this combined created a whimsical effect in this image. It makes me think of the decorations people hang at there weddings.
